Our first project for the sector were the technical translations of the literature for the first ethanol vehicle ever to be produced in series, by Fiat Brazil, in Betim, MG. We continued to work for Fiat for over more than two decades.
The second company to whom we provided large-scale technical translations was General Motors, for many years as well, then followed Volkswagen, Mercedes Benz Caminhões, BMW, Daewoo, Mitsubishi, Ford, Nissan, Audi, Citroën, Hyunday, Kya, Saab Scania and others.
Our translation company's involvement with the automotive industry in Brazil has been so intense that our history practically merges with the history of this important sector, one of the first to more heartily leverage our economy in the 1970s.
Automotive Industry – Some of its history in Brazil
Just to remember such a recent period and yet seeming so long ago, here go some facts that nowadays may be quite curious. The Kombi (Volks bus) was the first car (a utility vehicle) to be produced here in Brazil by the Brasmotor Group, using imported parts in the CKD system (Completely Knocked Down).
We may consider, however, that the automotive industry was truly installed in the country in 1956, with the manufacturing of the Romi-Isetta.
Also in 1956, Vemag launched a pick-up truck of the F91 line, produced by DKW, and assembled in Brazil. In 1958, sedans and pick-ups of the F94 line were also launched under the DKW license. Thus, the nationalization rates of parts components began to grow. Who can forget the popular and magical DKW, called Decavê by Brazilians? With its innovative and sports design, it was a sensation for those who could afford it at the time.
